Note: "The Tolkster" is a fine-art project consisting of a 6-month period wherein the artist labored an average of 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, to create the portrait of Tolkien (virtually "bead by bead" of Virtual Shattered Glass), thus a 5-foot tall print of "The Tolkster" displays tiny bits of color, perhaps an average of 10 bits to fit on a grain of white rice. This was an exhaustive project entailing frustrating trial and error to produce a portrait resembling the author. "The Tolkster" is not a photo manipulation, but an original fine-art masterpiece by Douglas Christian Larsen.
